My Weight Loss

While I was isolated in solitude
I pondered the future with alarm
To eat and grow fat day by day
Or use the time to lose some weight
Fill the gullies of my stretch marks
And get in shape while gyms are closed

I chose to shed inches and flab
To firm my bust like a young deer
Tighten the waist, sprawling like towns
And turn that ugly cellulite
That smiles with treacherous dimpled glee
Upon my thighs, into strong muscles

I changed my diet and habits
And ditched the biscuits, cakes and cheese
For porridge gruel and raw cabbage
The rabbit food without the hay
Lots of protein and crunchy fruit
With no anchor but faith and hope

In ninety days, I reached my goal
And lost three inches round my girth
Love handles, drooping like willows
And ten percent of my body weight
To run and climb three flights of stairs
Without gasping, like a mountaineer
