Thank you Lord for this pandemic
A global event that we share
In different countries, tribes and tongues
Through fear and dread, struggles and loss
We learn to care as one with love
Through kindness and moral support
Till we can live at peace with all
In fellowship without contempt
Thank you Lord for solitude
A time to stop and stare and rest
From busyness and ruminate
On past events, thoughts and actions
And lay aside our wayward ways
Of selfishness and trivial thoughts
That isolates to keep us bound
In frustration and complaining
Thank you Lord for creativity
A chance to think adapt anew
To ways of seeing our neighbours
As one with us in the struggle
Set mind free from petty passions
Of hate, envy, greed and malice
To grow in virtue through caring
For self, others and environ
Thank you Lord for strength to endure
Isolation and separation
From loved ones now so far away
Whom we long to see, hug and share
Laughter, a meal or travelling out
Though seasons come and they will end
We’ll meet again when much refreshed
By lockdown rule that restores mind
To live again from hopes and dreams
