Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
He lets me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside the still and quiet waters
He refreshes and restores my soul
He leads me in the parts of righteousness
For His name’s sake

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I fear no evil for You are with me
Your rod and staff they comfort and console me
You prepare a table before me
In the presence of my enemies
You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil
My cup overflows
Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love
Shall follow me all the days of my life
And I shall dwell forever
In the house and in the presence of the Lord

Psalm 18:2-3

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and the one who rescues me
My God my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge
My shield and the horn of my salvation
My high tower and my stronghold
I call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised
And I am saved from my enemies

Psalm 27

The Lord is my light and my salvation
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the refuge and fortress of my life
Whom shall I dread?
When the wicked come against me to eat up my flesh
My adversaries and my enemies
They stumbled and fell.
Though an army encamp against me
My heart will not fear
Though war arise against me
Even in this I am confident

One thing I have asked of the Lord and that I will seek
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life
To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
And to meditate in His temple
For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter
In the secret place of His tent he will hide me
He will lift me up on a rock
And now my head will be lifted up
Above my enemies around me
In His tent I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy
I will sing yes I will sing praises to the Lord

Do not hide your face from me
Do not turn your servant away in anger
You have been my help
Do not abandon me nor leave me
O God of my salvation!

Although my father and mother have abandoned me
Yet the Lord will take me up
Teach me Your way O Lord and lead me on a level path
Because of my enemies (who lie in wait)
Do not give me up to the will of my adversaries
For false witnesses have come up against me
They breathe out violence

I would have despaired had I not believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living

Wait for and confidently expect the Lord
Be strong and let your heart take courage
Yes wait for and confidently expect the Lord

Psalm 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty
(Whose power no enemy can withstand)
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress
My God in whom I trust

For He will save you from the trap of the fowler
And from the deadly pestilence
He will cover you and completely protect you with His pinions
And under His wings you will find refuge
His faithfulness is a shield and a wall

You will not be afraid of the terror of night
Nor of the arrow that flies by day
Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noon

A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand
But danger will not come near you
You will only be a spectator (as you look on with your eyes)
And witness the repayment of the wicked

Because you have made the Lord (who is my refuge)
Even the Most High, your dwelling place
No evil will befall you
Nor will any plague come near your tent

For He will command His angels in regard to you
To protect and defend and guard you in all your ways
They will lift you up in their hands
So that you do not strike your foot against a stone

You will tread upon the lion and the cobra
The young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot

Because he set his love on Me
Therefore I will save him
I will set him securely on high
Because he knows My name

He will call upon Me and I will answer him
I will be with him in trouble
I will rescue him and honour him
With a long life I will satisfy him
And I will let him see My salvation

Psalm 34:4-7; 15-17

I sought the Lord and He answered me
And delivered me from all my fears

They looked to Him and were radiant
Their faces will never blush in shame or confusion
This poor man cried and the Lord heard him
And saved him from all his troubles

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him
And He rescues each of them

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
And His ears are open to their cry
The face of the Lord is against those who do evil
To cut off the memory of them from the earth
When the righteous cry for help the Lord hears
And rescues them from all their distress and troubles

Psalm 46:1-7

God is our refuge and strength
A very present and well proved help in trouble
Therefore we would not fear though the earth should change
And though the mountains be shaken and slip into the heart of the seas
Though its waters roar and foam
Though the mountains tremble at its roaring
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God
The Holy dwelling places of the Most High
God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved
God will help her when the morning dawns

The Lord of hosts is with us
The God of Jacob is our stronghold (our refuge, our high tower)

Isaiah 25:4-5

For God has been a stronghold for the helpless
A stronghold for the poor in his distress
A shelter from the storm (of life)
A shade from the heat (of anger, rage, hate, conflict and troubles)
For the breathe of tyrants
Is like a rainstorm against the wall
Like heat in a dry land
You will subdue the noise of foreigners
Like heat in the shadow of a cloud
The song of the tyrants is silenced

Isaiah 43:2-4

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you
And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you
When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched
Nor will the flame burn you
For I AM the Lord your God
The Holy One of Israel, your Saviour

Because you are precious in My sight
You are honoured and I love you
I will give other men in return for you
And other peoples in exchange for your life

Isaiah 49:16-17, 25

Indeed I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands
Your city walls are continually before Me
Your builders hurry
Your destroyers and devastators will go away from you

I will content with your opponent
And I will save your children

Isaiah 59: 19

When the enemy comes in like a flood
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him
(Overwhelming the enemy)
